Light Intensity Assessment
Light intensity measurements are conducted by a lux meter at habitual workstations/work areas of workers. Nature of the work environment differentiates the level of light required for warehouse, factory and office work.
Sufficient light should be provided to workers to allow safe movement around the workplace and to allow workers to perform their work safely without having to strain their eyes.
It is important that distribution of brightness in a visual environment is adequate to perform all work easily and safely. Inadequate illumination can be very irritating for staff which can cause eye fatigue, headaches and stress. While excessive illumination can cause glare leading to discomfort, annoyance, interference with vision or eye fatigue.
