Thermal Assessment
OHCS offers consultancy service in thermal assessment for the workplace environment. Thermal monitoring will determine heat stress index (HSI) and employee’s allowable exposure time in working environment.
Thermal stress monitor is used to measure required parameters of dry bulb, wet bulb, globe temperature and wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) while Anemometer was used to measure air velocity. The monitoring strategy focused specifically on environmental condition prevailing from machine operation by employees.
WBGT combines the effects of key thermal components affecting heat stress and these are humidity, air temperature, radiation, wet bulb, dry bulb, globe temperatures and air velocity.
Heat stress is defined as “The net heat load to which a worker may be exposed from the combined contributions of metabolic cost of work, environmental factors (i.e. air temperature, humidity, air movement and radiant heat exchange) and clothing requirements” (AIOH, 2013).
